Characterization of macromolecular micro and macro-structures

Crosslinking condition of elastomers: rubber exhibits elastic properties over a wide deformation range because it is crosslinked (by vulcanization or during processing). Its crosslinking density, which influences its mechanical properties, can be assessed via the equilibrium swelling test by immersion in suitable solvents. Morphology (crystallinity, multiphase):

• Differences in crystallinity of semi-crystalline thermoplastic parts
• Detection of materials in compounds (multiphases, fillers and compatibilizing agents)
• Morphology of cells in expanded material
